OUR CAUSES
Our club is in desperate need of new facilities to replace the current structure, which is old and beyond repair. The Borough Council have recently approved our plans, which include new changing and shower facilities for the football club and also the village's multi-sports court, disabled access, baby changing facilities and a meeting room, so our next task is to raise money to enable the building work to commence. The team are hoping that the money raised by this adventure will be a giant leap towards our target of £100,000.

As well as raising money ourselves we also applying for lottery funding, which we hope to secure in 2006.

As mentioned earlier we will also be donating some of the money raised to the St Helena Hospice.

St Helena Hospice exists to provide support for patients requiring palliative care and for their
families and friends. This support is designed to enable the individual to live in comfort with the
dignity, degree of independence and control of life which is appropriate.

To meet their objectives the hospice provides a range of specialist palliative care services through
community and inpatient services working from sites in Colchester and Clacton.

THE CHALLENGE
The 3 peaks is the ultimate challenge facing hill-walkers in the United Kingdom. To successfully complete the challenge the climbers are required to scale the 3 highest mountains in mainland Britain, Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales.
BEN NEVIS
(1,344m)
SCAFELL PIKE
(978m)
SNOWDON
(1,084m)

When they reach the summit of Snowdon, our team will have climbed over 11,000 feet and will have travelled over 500 miles. All in 24 hours.

The 8 climbers will be accompanied by support members who's task will be to drive the climbers to each peak and to help them recover and recuperate along the way.

This is going to be a huge personal challenge for every member of the team and will require months of physical preparation and precise planning.

Our experience will be documented in the local press as well as here on the club's website.
